My iPhone review.

Here I am at the Apple store writing this iPhone review. And yes, I was here playing with the iPhone for about an half an hour and asking the store clerk bunch of questions.

I’m sure you can read all the other reviews that are out there, so I’m just gonna write about the stuff that I thought was pretty annoying. (There wasn’t any positive trait about iPhone that I didn’t already know about)

  • UI is not that intuitive as you’d like it to be. For example, if you are listening to your music in the iPod mode and wants to make phone call, it takes two button presses to get to your phone. You first have to press the bottom home button then the phone icon on the screen. This is going to be really annoying. There isn’t a single feature that you can get to in one button press.
  • Another UI issue. Back button. It seems like all the buttons that progress you forward to more specific menu item are located at the bottom, but the button to go back to the previous menu is located at the top. Umm… Microsoft did that with Vista and I remember hating it. During my 30 minute use, it was so annoying to move my finger back and forth from top to bottom. Apple did say since it’s all touch screen, UI can be reconfigured, but I highly doubt this can be changed by users nor it’ll be changed by Apple.
  • You can’t use your own head phones on iPhone. It comes with a pair of earphones but those suck, so if you want to use your own, you have to shell out another 10 dollars to buy an adapter for it. WTH?? I guess it’s more of a phone then a music player. –;;
  • Sideview only works when you are holding the iPhone vertically. If you hold it horizontally, like I do with my phone, Gameboy, DS, and even my camera when I’m reviewing my photos, it doesn’t work. Yes, I understand that the technology works by detecting gravity, but it’s still annoying.
  • Last thing, you cannot mute iPhone with one button. Yes, you can turn the ringer off, but not the music. You have to press the volume button on the side multiple times to mute the iPod. Errrr….

Oh and one thing that was kinda good: EDGE isn’t THAT slow. (But it’s slow enough to deter me from paying 600 dollars for it.)

I guess I’m not buying an iPhone yet.

[post script]
iPhone made me realize that the point where my finger touches a surface is not the point that I’m directing at, my nail is pointing to that point. –;;; (Typing is not TOO bad)
