난 주말이 좋다.
사랑하는 사람들을 볼 수 있기에
반가운 얼굴들과 함께할 수 있어 좋다.
흥겨운 멜로디에 맘것 뛰어 찬양할 수 있고
순수한 아이들의 배를 채워 줄 수 있으며
공을 던지며 함께 땀을 흘릴 수 있는
주말이 좋다.
난 예배가 좋다.
일주일동안 일에 밀리고 치어 묻은
먼지들을 털어버릴 수 있어서 좋다.
비록 몸은 분주하지만 영은 안식할 수 있기에
그 한시간 만큼은 하나님과 함께하며
세상을 잊고 천국에 집중할 수 있어서
예배가 좋다.
그래서 그런지
난 항상 주말을 갈망한다.
예배를 초조히 기다린다.

지치고 힘들때마다 하나님은 날 잊지 않으시고 항상 쉴 만한 물가로 인도하신다. 날 다윗보다 더 사랑하시는것이 아닐까?
이번에도 나의 영혼을 소생시키시기 위해 Annapolis에 있는 Liz 부모님의 별장을 준비해 주셨다.
바닷가에선 카약도 타고 고기도 잡으며 자연을 즐겼고 저녁엔 별장으로 돌아와 친구들과 이런저런 이야기를 나누고 카드 게임을 하며 즐거운 시간을 갖었다.
비록 하룻밤 갔다온 짧은 trip이였지만 나의 영을 재 충전하기에는 충분하였다. 특히 더 감사한건 이번 trip을 통해 믿지 않는 내 친구들에게 나의 그들의 영혼을 향한 안타까움을 전할수 있는 기회가 있었기 때문이다.
어떠한 교리를 통한 복음제시보다 나의 뜨거운 마음을 보여줄수 있는 시간을 가질수 있던것은 그 어느것 보다 이번 trip을 값지게 한것이 아니였을까 싶다.
기도한다. 이들과 계속 교재함으로써 진정 난 소금과 빛이 되어주기를…

방학이 다가오자 일이 시작되기까지 1주가 빈다는 사실을 알아낸뒤 여행을 떠나야겠다는 다짐을 했다. 유럽에 가고 싶다는 생각이 가득했지만 금전적으로 불가능하다는 사실에 절망할뻔 했다. 될수있으면 일상을 떠나 이국적인 곳에 가고 싶었다. Mexico? Canada? Cruise?
Mexico는 후보에 오르자 마자 떨어 졌다. 왜냐고? 물런 유렵보단 싸지만 그래도 $500이 넘어가는 비행기 값을 감당하기엔 무리였다.
Cruise도 고려해 보았지만 여행의 매력이 전혀없는 사실에 후보에서 탈락! (시간도 맞추기가 어려웠다.)
고민 고민 중 미국에서도 유럽을 조금이나마 맛볼수 있는 몬트리올이 생각이 났다. 비록 케나다이지만 French를 사용한다는 것 하나만으로 나의 여행의 갈증을 tease하기에 충분했다.
거긴 갔다 오는데 얼마나 들까? 비행기 값은 Mexico와 마찬가지… OTL 하지만 찾는 자에겐 길이 있다고 기차가 생각이 났다. 생각보다 쌌다! 여행을 할 수 있을것 같다는 생각에 신이 나기 시작했다.

$500안으로 갈수있는 가장 이국적인 곳 몬트리올… 이라고 내 맘대로 정하고 준비에 들어갔다.

지난 금요일 참 오랬만에 복음을 나눌 수 있는 기회가 있었다. 삶에 찌드러 살다보니 누구와 앉아 전도를하며 진리를 놓고 이야기를 나누어 본지 너무나도 오래되었다.
전도한 내용에 대해 쓰는대신 그 experience에대해 성제형과 나눈 대화를 올린다.

High School이후로는 내 주위에 진정한 geek친구가 없었다.
주말마다 컴퓨터를 들고 Matt Anderson 집 지하실에 network를 만들어놓고 밤새 코딩하는것이 낙이였던 고등학교 시절에 비하면 같이 코딩은 커녕 프로그래밍에 관한 대화를 나눌 수 있는 사람을 내 주위에서 찾기도 힘들다. (그때 그 무거운 데스크탑 컴퓨터를 19인치 CRT모니터까지 함께 들고 모였든 우리들을 보면 진정한 geek이였다고 자랑스럽게 말할 수 있다.)
대학에서 만난사람들은 대부분 돈때문에 computer science하거나 코딩을 대학교와서 시작한 사람들이 대부분이였다. 뭐 돈 때문에 컴퓨터를 공부하고 늦게 프로그래밍을 시작한것이 잘못된것은 아니지만 그들과는 앉아 진정한 geeky한 대화를 나누기가 힘들다. 그래서 그런지 대학에선 geek friend 가뭄이 심하게 찾아왔었다.
모든 이야기에는 예외가 있듯이 나의 geeky friendless life에도 예외는 있다.
작년 크리스마스때 은규형이 메릴렌드를 방문했다.
야후에서 system architect(틀리면 고쳐주세요)으로 일하고 있는 형은 내가 무진장 좋아하는 형이다. CP를 다닐적 KCM에서 나의 소 그룹 리더였던 형의 첫 인상이 생생하다. 바로 KCM orientation미팅때 칠판에다가 이번 일년동안 KCM이 나아갈 방향과 오늘 미팅 일정을 c style pseudo code로 적고 있는 모습이였다. 그 것을 보고 난 한번에 반하였다. 그후 KCM Focus Group을 단번에 Focus Family로 바꾸어논 그 형의 리더쉽은 나에게는 너무나도 큰 인상을 남겨주었다.
그리곤 곧 졸업을 한뒤 인디아나로 대학원을 갔다. 그 때 형의 eunmind.net을 발견했었다. 고등학교 이후 홈페이지를 운영하는것을 중단한 난 형의 사이트를 보자 마자 필(?)을 받아 나만의 홈페이지를 다시 개설 운영하기 시작했다. It wasn’t just in the blog/homepage aspect of life that he has affected. 사진에 관한 관심에서 부터 자전거로 commute하는 것까지 형에게 받은 영향은 생각보다 많다. 그리고 형의 솔직한 글들을 통해 엿볼수 있는 그의 세계관은 나의 세계관을 정립시키며 만들어나가는데 큰 자리를 찾이하였다.
나와 많은 비슷한 관심사를 갖고있고 모든것을 분석하는 눈으로 바라보는 그의 모습은 비록 2~3년마다 한번보는 얼굴이지만 매일 보는 그 어느 얼굴보다 가깝게 느껴진다. 그래서 그런지 형과의 만남은 항상 기억에 남는다. 2004년 크리스마스때 Rockville Pike에서 함께한 아침식사 대화의 내용도 아직까지 생생히 기억난다. 그리고 작년 만남때도 여러이야기를 나누면서 나에게 아직까지 울리고 있는 한마디가 있다.
부족한것이 풍족한것보다 더 재미있다.
같이 현재 industry가 앞으로 나아가야 할 방향을 진지하게 같이 논할 수 있는 유일한 친구. 나에 Yahoo에 대한 perception을 바꾸어 놓은 당사자. 같이 성경공부하고싶은 사람 순위 1번. 함께 open source project를 하고 싶은 geek. 나의 앞길에 대한 많은 미스터리들의 빛이 되어주고 있는 조언자. 학교뿐만 아니라 신앙의 선배.
난 그런 은규형이 좋다.

According to an Australian newspaper, The Geelong Advertiser, a girl named Taylor with arthrogryposis were given a christmas gift from Nintendo.
Because Taylor lacks any muscle in her arm, it is often hard for her to perform lot of simple activities on her own. But when she discovered Wii at her family’s friend’s house, she was really happy that we could play video games for the first time.
Then the friends wrote them a letter to Nintendo, telling them about the Taylor’s situation. Graciously enough, Nintendo sent Taylor a brand new Wii for free!!
