When the iPhone first came out I had 5 reasons that deterred me from purchasing one. Let me reproduce them here:
- EDGE + AT&T sucks
- 8GB sucks
- Touch keyboard sucks
- No Korean support
- Closed system sucks
Now that iPhone 3G is coming out tomorrow, I’ve decided to see if the new iteration of Job’s new toy is worthy of my hard earned dollars.
- EDGE + AT&T Sucks
They finally moved to the 3G using UMTS/HSDPA network. Which is a great news! (Even though AT&T still sucks.)
- 8GB sucks
Well… they’ve only managed to double the capacity of the original iPhone to 16GB. If it’s going to be a video device, even 32GB might not cut it. And without external memory card slot, this is still a failure.
- Touch keyboard sucks
After trying out the keyboard for awhile using my friend’s iPhone, I’ve come to acknowledge that touch keyboard isn’t as bad as it sounds. Although I prefer the tactile nature of BlackBerry, I say this is acceptable.
- No Korean support
They managed to include more than just Korean support. You can type in virtually any language imaginable. Although it is a bummer that only Korean got no love for not having a dictionary, but being able to type Korean is definite plus over BlackBerry.
- Closed system sucks
Well… They did kind of open up the system and created a really nice SDK. But distribution of the software has to go through Apple. Which is dumb. It’s dumber that they decided to allow only one application to run at a time. Errr…
So Apple got 3 out of 5 right. Which is still not good enough for me. Maybe third time would be the charm. But by the time Apple rolls out with the next version, Sprint will have WiMax ready with BlackBerry Bold. Then it’s game over for Apple!

In this time and age, it’s really hard to find a good heartfelt comedy film. All you get is overly vulgar R rated comedies like Knocked Up or some dumb crap like Scary/Date/Epic/Superhero Movie series. Oh yeah, let’s not forget all those romantic “comedies.”
I miss good old fun comedies like My Cousin Vinny, Liar Liar , and, yes, even Home Alone (but of course never the sequels). All comedies these days are either vulgar or dumb, often times both. (If you are going to be vulgar at least be smart, like Clerks.)
Being sick and tired of the genre, it’s always refreshing when comedies like Napoleon Dynamite or Down With Love comes about to give me something to laugh about. Especially when Down With Love came out, I was overly thrilled to see a classic genre of screwball comedy being resurrected.
So when I heard that George Clooney was working with Renée Zellweger to create a comedy set in 1920’s called Leatherheads, I couldn’t be happier. But after seeing some lackluster reviews, I started to worry. Then again, who can trust those bone head reviewers out there?
After watching to movie, I gotta say I’m satisfied. Although I can see why some people might not enjoy it, but I sure did. Acting was superb, the comedy was very funny and clean, and it had a story line that rang in my ear like a bedtime story. The best part was that the movie didn’t try to be anything. These days so many movies try so hard. It was great to see a light hearted comedy that doesn’t have sexual innuendoes ever other scene.
Was it worth my $10? Yes. Will it be yours? I’m not too sure. If you want to be excited, jolted, moved and have an emotional roller coaster when watching movie, this is not for you. If you enjoy movies like enjoying a afternoon tea, relaxing but enjoyable, then watch it. If you like football, then I recommend it bit more.
